Telescope Mounts |
|
There are basically 2 types of telescope mount used by astronomers.
Firstly the Alt Azimuth mount, so called because it moves in both those planes and is ideal for quick set up and observing but cannot track the starts ans would be no use for imaging. If you have ever used or seen a photographic tripod then that is a form of Alt Azimuith mount. Secondly an Equatorial mount which takes a little longer to set up but can track the stars as they move either using hand controls or can be motorises or even computerised and is a must for imaging. |
